New E-Filing Portal Launched, Govt Asks Users to Update Mobile Number and Email Id The government has launched the new E-filing Tax portal for seamless and hassle-free experience Credits: Income Tax Department Twitter

New Delhi: The government on Monday night (June 8) launched the new online portal for filing Income Tax. The new portal is being launched to provide a seamless and hassle-free experience to taxpayers. The address of the new portal is  which can be accessed in English as well as regional languages.

In a tweet, the Income Tax Department said, “We proudly present to our valued taxpayers, the new e-Filing portal Designed with your convenience in mind, the portal offers features to make your e-filing experience smoother, simpler & smarter. You Come First, Always! #eFilingMadeEasier #NewPortal.”

The Income Tax Department has also asked users to re-0regiter their Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) as well as upload mobile number and email ID under ‘primary contact’, act on ‘pending action’, if any, and respond to ‘outstanding demand’.

Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, “The much-awaited e-Filing portal 2.0 went live at 20:45 hrs yesterday. An important milestone to make the compliance experience more taxpayer-friendly. In the service of the nation.”

The new portal has been developed by Infosys.

Once a registered user logs in to the portal, the dashboard would show details of e-proceedings, response to outstanding demands, if any, and also annual information statement under the ‘pending actions’ tab.

The grievance menu allows taxpayers to submit any grievance and also view previously submitted ones.

Also, taxpayers can view, edit and update their personal details under ‘my profile’ menu.

The portal would also list out what detail the taxpayer needs to fill up to ensure profile completion.

It has also detailed FAQs and videos to help users to navigate through the portal.
