New Delhi: Fans of Shah Rukh Khan and cricket have a reason to rejoice. King Khan-owned cricket franchise Kolkata Knight Riders Group has revealed that they will build a world-class cricket stadium in Los Angeles, USA. KKR has partnered with the Major Cricket League (MCL) for the development project.
Kolkata Knight Riders took to their official Twitter account to make the announcement. “@MLCricket and the Knight Riders Group are joining hands to build a world class cricket venue in the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area in #USA,” read the tweet.
“Our investment in MLC in America, is based on our belief in the exciting future of cricket in the USA and is well aligned to our strategy of establishing Knight Riders as a global brand in T20 cricket. Plans to build a world class cricket stadium in the greater Los Angeles area is exciting for us and MLC. This will no doubt have a transformational impact on one of the world’s most iconic metropolitan areas,” reads a press release shared by Kolkata Knight Riders Group.
The report also suggests that the stadium will be capable of accommodating 10,000-people and the stadium will be built on a 15-acre land in the city of Irvine.
“Our investment in MLC in America, is based on our belief in the exciting future of cricket in the USA,” reads the statement.
The release also added that the cricket stadium will be complete with an international-grade pitch and will host international cricket competitions. Shah Rukh Khan and KKR are eyeing an International Cricket Council (ICC) accreditation for the venue. KKR have won the IPL championship twice so far.
