WTC Final: Ravichandran Ashwin Plays Darts With Coaching Staff As Rain Washes Out Play On Day One

Team India who take on New Zealand to be crowned as the inaugural winner of the World Test Championship were confined to their dressing rooms as rain played spoilsport on Day One.

New Delhi: With Day One of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final being washed out, some of the Indian team members enjoyed their time by competing in a game of darts. In a video posted by the BCCI on Instagram spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Physiotherapist Nitin Patel, and two other staff members.

In the video, Ashwin can be seen competing with the staff members and then adding up the scores. Ashwin was third with a score of 57 behind one of the staff members named Hari and coach Nitin Patel who scored 85 and 71 respectively.

However, in the next attempt, Ashwin struck the jackpot as he landed on a score of 60 in his third attempt.

The rains continued to lash on the Ageas Bowl pitch which meant that even the toss could not take place.

India announced their starting 11 on the eve before the match while New Zealand have still not named theirs.

New Zealand have come off a Test win against England just five days back which means they have recent experience of playing Tests while India last played the longest format of the game against England in March.

Following the WTC final, India will take on England in a five-match Test series after which they will return to India to complete the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) before the T20 World Cup which is also scheduled to take place in India.
