New Delhi: Bypolls to three Lok Sabha seats and 29 assembly constituencies across 13 states and Dadra and Nagar Haveli are underway. The voting kicked off at 7 am on Saturday.
The three Lok Sabha seats where bypolls are taking place are Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. The elections to the Lok Sabha seats were necessitated after the deaths of the sitting members.
The 29 assembly seats where polling is taking place are situated in West Bengal, Haryana, Bihar, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.
Votes will be counted on November 2.
75% voting in Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha bypoll
A voter turnout of 75.51 percent was recorded as the voting concluded at 7 pm in the bypoll to the Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday where a triangular contest is on among candidates of Shiv Sena, BJP, and Congress.
Over 64% Voter Turnout in Madhya Pradesh bypolls
A voter turnout of 64.60 percent was recorded on Saturday in the bypolls to three Assembly seats and of 63.88 percent in the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh where the ruling BJP and opposition Congress are locked in a straight contest.
49.6% voter turnout recorded in Bihar
Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 49.6 percent till the end of polling at 4 pm in the by-elections to the two Assembly constituencies on Saturday.
According to the election commission, the Kusheshwar Asthan assembly seat in Darbhanga recorded 36.55 percent voter turnout while the Tarapur Assembly seat in Munger recorded 39 percent voter turnout.
Karnataka recorded 58.78% voter turnout till 3 pm
Karnataka recorded a voter turnout of 58.78 percent till 3 pm in the ongoing bypolls in Hangal and Sindgi assembly constituencies on Saturday.
65% voter turnout recorded in Rajasthan till 5 pm
Rajasthan recorded a voter turnout of 65 percent in the ongoing by-polls to the Dhariyawad and Vallabhnagar assembly constituencies till 5 pm.
Over 71% voter turnout in West Bengal so far
West Bengal recorded a voter turnout of 71 percent till 5 pm in the ongoing by-elections to four Assembly constituencies in the state on Saturday.
Santipur and Dinhata seats in West Bengal state assembly fell vacant after BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar and Nishith Pramanik resigned from the assembly, respectively.
Whereas, elections on the other two seats are being held as All India Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) MLAs Kajal Sinha (Khardah) and Jayanta Naskar (Gosaba) died due to COVID-19.
Nearly 69.60% turnout recorded in Assam at close of polling
Assam recorded a voter turnout of 51.65 percent till 5 pm in the ongoing by-elections to its five Assembly constituencies on Saturday.
Polling is underway in Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra assembly segments.
The highest voter turnout of 76.71 percent was recorded in Gossaigaon, followed by Thowra (75.07 percent), Bhabanipur (74 percent), Tamulpur (62 percent), and Mariani (61.62 percent)
73% voter turnout recorded in Haryana till 5 pm
Over 73 per cent polling was registered till 5 pm in the bypoll to the Ellenabad assembly constituency in Haryana.
Over 66% voter turnout in Himachal Pradesh till 5 pm
The Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly segment registered the highest polling percentage of 66.1, while the lowest voter turnout of 49.83 percent was recorded in the Mandi Lok Sabha segment till 5 pm on Saturday in the bypolls to three Assembly seats and one parliamentary constituency in Himachal Pradesh
