Santa Fe: Producer and actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killed one woman and injured a man on the set of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico on Thursday, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies confirmed.
“The sheriff’s office confirms that two individuals were shot on the set of Rust. Halyna Hutchins, 42, director of photography and Joel Souza, 48 director, were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin, 68, producer and actor,” the press release from the police said.
Souza was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was receiving emergency care, officials said.

The filming location at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Sante Fe was initially sent into lockdown and production was halted following 1:50 p.m. double shooting. “There was an accident today on the New Mexico set of Rust involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks,” the production spokesperson told Deadline.
