Anushka Sharma’s Production House Ties Up With Netflix, Prime Video In $54 Million Deal: Reports

New Delhi: Amazon.com Inc. and Netflix Inc. are among platforms partnering with Indian production house Clean Slate Filmz Pvt. to push out movies and web series worth about 4 billion rupees ($54 million), as per the reports in leading news portals.

As per reports, a spokesperson at Netflix confirmed that the streaming giant is going to release three titles produced by Anushka’s Clean Slate Filmz in the next year and a half. However, Amazon’s Prime Video hasn’t commented on this yet.

Clean Slate Filmz, will be releasing eight films and series on these OTT platform as over the next 18 months, the studio’s 37-year-old co-founder, Karnesh Ssharma, told Bloomberg. Ssharma declined to provide a full list before they were officially announced.

The spokesperson has told Bloomberg that Clean Slate would be releasing at least eight titles on Netflix and Prime Video in the coming months. “What has happened over a period of time is ambition is also going up within the studio systems,” he said. “And that’s great for people like us.”

Anushka’s production house started its operations back in 2013 when the actress announced her new venture along with brother Karnesh Ssharma. Their first movie was the 2015-film NH10, starring Anushka herself.

Their series Paatal Lok in the year 2020, was highly appreciated by the critics and got several awards. The series revolved around a cynical inspector who is tasked with investigating a high-profile case which leads him into a dark realm of the underworld.

Clean Slate Filmz’s production Mai, will air on Netflix will star Sakshi Tanwar. Another project Qala, will mark the debut of Irrfan Khan’s son, Babil Khan. Anushka will also be making her acting comeback after her 2018 outing Zero, with the sports biopic Chakda Xpress, based on the life of Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami.
