New Delhi: “Baby Shark Dance” becomes the first video on You Tube video to go pass 10 billion mark. Many of the top 10 videos on YouTube cater to children. The song was created by South Korean educational company Pinkfong and performed by Korean-American singer Hope Segoine.
“Baby Shark” was published in June, 2016 on YouTube by Pinkfong and has became the first and only video to surpass 10 billion views. The dance video for kids managed to garner nearly two billion views by the end of 2018 and by 2020, it had become the most-watched video on the video sharing platform with more than seven billion views worldwide.
The most viewed video shows two real children demonstrating the “Baby Shark dance” while the titular animated shark and his family which includes a mustachioed “Grandpa Shark” — swim serenely and later make an attempt to hunt the kids. They fail eventually and the kids celebrate their safety while the sharks watch from afar, forks in fin.
The “Baby Shark” video set a new Guinness World Records title as the most-viewed video on YouTube by generating 7 billion views in November 2020 and has managed to retain the position for 15 consecutive months.
Not only is it the most-viewed video on the platform, a record it set in November 2020, but it’s now the only video on the site to reach 10 billion views, YouTube confirmed to CNN.
Psy’s hit video for Gangnam Style is currently outside of the top 10 in the number 11 position with 4.3 billion lifetime views.
