New Delhi: The wait for fans is over as Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will finally be available on online streaming giant Amazon Prime Video for Indian viewers starting from Wednesday (March 31).

The spy thriller which is a Warner Bros production made Rs. 12.57 crores at the box office when theatres opened after the COVID-19 induced lockdown last year. For the unversed, the film is also available on pay-per-view service BookMyShow. Insisting on the large-screen experience for his films, Nolan had rejected to release the film directly on a digital platform even when theatres remained indefinitely shut owing to the pandemic.

Nolan who enjoys an albeit up-market fan base in India chose a theatrical release in September 2020 when various parts of the world had not opened up. With theatre occupancies capped at 50%, Tenet was released on ariund 30% fewer screens.

Nolan whose last release Dunkirk had made Rs. 20.26 crores in India when released in 2017 is well-known for films like Interstellar, The Dark Knight and Inception. Tenet premiered in theatres in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (USA) on August 26 and September 3 in last year respectively.

In India it premiered on December 4, 2020. Tenet was filmed in countries like Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States, among others. The film’s protagonist, played by John David Washington, is a time-travelling international spy, who risks his life to prevent a nuclear holocaust potentially bigger than World War III.

Amazon Prime Video tweeted on Wednesday, ”Tenet, use it carefully. It will open the right doors but the wrong ones too. #TenetOnPrime: amzn.to/Tenet – watch now”. The film is expected to be available on Netflix starting March 31, 2022.
