New Delhi: Kannada television actor Chethana Raj passed away at the age of 21 at a private hospital in Bengaluru after suffering from post-surgery complicatons. Reportedly, the actor was admitted for a ‘fat-free’ plastic surgery.
The actress faced changes in her health condition on the evening of May 17 after complaining of fluid retention in her lungs.
According to a letter to the Police Inspector by Kaade Hospital by ICU intensivist Dr Sandeep V, the surgery did not go as planned. Anesthetist Melvin, along with the doctors who performed the plastic surgery, brought Chethana to the hospital premises on the evening of May 17 and threatened the doctors to treat her as a person who had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Doctors initiated CPR to resuscitate the patient. Despite trying for 45 minutes, Chethana could not be revived.
Dr Sandeep also mentioned that Chethana was declared dead at 6.45 pm. He also mentioned that the doctors at Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre were aware that Chethana had already passed away.
Several media reports have stated that the actress did not inform her parents about the surgery and was accompanied at the hospital by her friends.
The late actress’ parents have claimed negligence by the doctors that led to the untimely demise of their young daughter. A police complaint has been lodged against the hospital committee by Chethana’s parents in the nearby police station.
“My daughter died due to the negligence of the hospital. The doctors have conducted surgery without parental consent and without proper equipment,” said Chethana’s father, as reported by DNA.
Her father went on to say that his daughter was hale and hearty. “She had gone to hospital with her friends. Someone has suggested to her that she had more fat in the waist and without consulting any family member she had come for the surgery. “I will initiate legal action against hospital authorities,” the report added..
