New Delhi: KGF: Chapter 2 by Yash, directed by Prashanth Neel, had a massive box office debut. According to Taran Adarsh, the film earned Rs 134 crore on its opening day. KGF: Chapter 2 has received rave reviews from both critics and audiences. The makers on Friday revealed that KGF 2 earned Rs 134.5 crore in India on Thursday, making it already the biggest earner in the history of Kannada cinema.
After getting postponed multiple times, KGF: Chapter 2 finally hit the theatres on April 14 in five languages. KGF: Chapter 2 is a sequel to the film of the same name, produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films.
After receiving overwhelming reviews, theatres across the country have allowed more shows to KGF: Chapter 2. The box office collection of the film on Day 2 is expected to be higher than on Day 1.
The worldwide screen count of KGF 2 is the same as RRR, which became director SS Rajamouli’s second film to collect Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office.
KGF 2 had a record advance booking in the Hindi belt, surpassing RRR’s bookings. Experts believe that the Hindi version alone will earn Rs 30 crore or more on its first day, which would be a record for a dubbed Kannada film. However, based on the buzz, that was a pretty conservative projection.
Directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF: Chapter 2 traces the story of Rocky’s rise and his encounters with his enemies. The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Malavika Avinash, Prakash Raj, John Kokken and Saran in important roles.
