Malayalam Actor Sreenivisan On Ventilator Support After Bypass Surgery

Sreenivasan, who is also a director and screenwriter, is known for his comedy and character roles in Malayalam and Tamil films.

Actor Sreenivasan underwent a bypass surgery to clear three blocks in his arteries.

New Delhi: Sreenivisan, the popular Malayalam actor, was on Wednesday put on ventilator support after he underwent bypass surgery to clear blocked arteries. The veteran actor, whose health condition worsened after the surgery, was put on a ventilator at a private hospital in Ernakulam, Kerala.

Sreenivasan, who is also a director and screenwriter, is known for his comedy and character roles in Malayalam and Tamil films.

He was admitted to Apollo Adlux Hospital on March 30 over heart issues, and it was found that he had three blocks in blood vessels. Following which, the doctors performed a bypass surgery on the actor. When he was under observation in the Intensive Care Unit, his oxygen levels dropped, and he had to be put on ventilator support.

Sreenivasan is reported to be responding well to the treatment and is stable, according to latest reports.

Born on April 6, 1956 in Kerala, Sreenivasan has acted in over 225 movies in his career. A multi-talented artist, he is also a screenwriter, director, dubbing artist and producer.

Sreenivasan wrote screenplays for films such as Odaruthammava Aalariyam, Gandhinagar 2nd Stret, Varavelpu, Sandesam, Oru Maravathoor kanavu, Midhunam and Njan Prakashan.

The actor was awarded the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues.
