Romantic drama series Virgin River has been renewed for season four and five by streamer Netflix.
The show, based on author Robyn Carr’s novel series of the same title, features Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson in the lead.
The two-season renewal comes after the show registered strong performances with both season two and season three, reported Deadline.
Virgin River also topped Nielsen’s US streaming rankings by amassing 2.1 billion minutes viewed across 30 episodes of its first three seasons.
Developed by Sue Tenney, the show follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Breckenridge), who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind.
But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected. She must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home. Henderson plays the role of Jack Sheridan, a local restaurant bar owner and former US Marine, who suffers from PTSD.
The show also features Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen and Marco Grazzini.
