Pearl V Puri sent to judicial custody in alleged rape case

The actor has been booked under IPC section 376 (rape) and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.

Mumbai: Pearl V Puri, who was arrested in an alleged rape and molestation case on Friday (June 4), has been sent to judicial custody by the Vasai court.

Vasai court sent the Naagin 3 actor to judicial custody after being produced before the judge. However, actor Karishma Tanna, claimed that the actor was granted bail. She shared a picture with the actor and wrote ‘truth wins’.

Taking to her Instagram, Karishma shared a photo with Pearl and informed fans that the actor has been granted bail. She wrote, “Satyamev Jayate. Truth wins and he did win. #gotbail @pearlvpuri #istandwithpearl #truthneverhides #pvp”.

Earlier Pearl was arrested in Vasai in connection with the rape of a minor. The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police arrested him on Friday night with the help of the personnel of Amboli police station, an official said. The complaint against Puri was lodged by the minor victim and her family members, he added.

Based on the complaint, an FIR against him was registered at Waliv police station in Vasai, the official said. The actor has been booked under IPC section 376 (rape) and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.

Pearl who made his television debut with Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat in 2013, is known for starring in the popular supernatural show Naagin 3, Naagarjuna Ek Yoddha and Bepanah Pyaar. He was last seen in Brahmarakshas 2.
