New Delhi: One person was injured in a petrol bomb attack outside Coimbatore’s Archana movie theatre screening actor Ajith Kumar’s movie ‘Valimai’ on Thursday at 4:30 am.
The injured man has been identified as Naveen Kumar who was erecting a flex board of the star in front of the theatre complex in the Gandhipuram area when two persons came on a motorbike and threw the petrol bomb at him before fleeing, police said.
Naveen sustained minor injuries in the explosion, which caused led to tension in the area, they said. Police suspect rivalry between fans of the actor over erecting banners as the motive behind the attack.
Police have lodged a case and investigation on the same is underway, so far the reason behind the attack is yet not known. Another similar bizarre incident from Chennai came to light when fans of Ajith Kumar stole curd packets thinking that it was milk for doing pooja on the cutouts of Ajith Kumar.
Security has been beefed up in front of other theatres in the city following the incident.
Owners of theatres have been witnessing an overwhelming response from the crowd in Tamil Nadu. Fans of Ajith Kumar were seen excited for the first screening of Ajith Kumar’s Valimai, directed by H Vinoth and featuring Bollywood actors Huma Qureshi and Janhvi Kapoor among others, released worldwide today.
