What is it that sets Pratheek Shetty apart from the rest? It’s his sheer passion, his ability to provide audiences with an immersive experience and his commitment to bringing something new to the table every time he’s involved in a project.

Pratheek’s journey in cinema began with Sarakari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale in 2018, which also won a national award. He then went on to work in Rishab’s Hero, Rakshit Shetty’s pan India film 777 Charlie, the recent blockbusters like Kantara, again starring Rishab, and Gandhadagudi starring the late Dr Puneeth Rajkumar, in which he has worked as the editor and director of photography. When asked about Gandhadagudi, he says, “I’m extremely fond of this project and it’s close to my heart as it is one of the last films of Puneeth Rajkumar. I spent over 100 days with the star”.

“Technically, the project was challenging. We shot the film completely in natural light and with a limited crew of 10-15. I am simply grateful to Appu sir for taking us on this journey with him. He was a true inspiration and I will forever cherish the time spent with him. I couldn’t have imagined that I won’t be able to watch the final output with him on the big screen. But I am sure he is extremely happy with the film as Gandhada Gudi was his dream project,” he added.

If Gandhada Gudi saw Pratheek Shetty make the hard yards as the director of photography, Rishab Shetty’s latest blockbuster, Kantara, had him employ his wits behind the action as an editor.

Hailing from the heart of Tuluvanadu, working on Kantara meant a great deal for him because it provided him with an opportunity to highlight his culture and present it to a global audience.

This ace technician also runs the acclaimed production house Darkbird Films.
