New Delhi: Acclaimed novelist Ta-Nehisi Coates has been roped in to write the script for the feature reboot of Superman.
The film will be produced by J.J. Abrams. Coates has previously written comic books in the Captain America and Black Panther series and received special thanks credits in 3 Marvel films: Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
As per Variety, no director is attached to the film yet and the search for an actor to play the role of Superman has not begun. Reportedly, Abrams production company Bad Robot is associated with the project. The project will be Coates first film writing credit.
Coates said, ”I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero”. He is known for his works like ‘Between The World and Me’. Warner Bros. Chairman Toby Emmerich said, ”We are confident that his take on Superman will give fans a new and exciting way to see the Man of Steel”.
Abrams has other Marvel series in the works for HBO Max including Justice League Dark.
