Veteran Malayalam Actress Kozhikode Sarada Passes Away

Kozhikode Sarada worked in at least 90 Malayalam films and has also worked for Malayalam Television serials over the span of her four decades long career.

Malayalam film and television actress Kozhikode Sarada passed away on Tuesday at Kerala’s Kozhikode Government Medical College. As per the reports, the veteran actress was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest and breathed her last on Tuesday at 9:30 am. 

The veteran actress was undergoing treatment for quite some time, and was aged 84 at the time of her demise.

Sarada was a well-known and popular face in Malayalam cinema. She began her acting career on the stage and made her debut in Malayalam films in 1979 with the film Angakkuri. 

Kozhikode Sarada worked in at least 90 Malayalam films and has also worked for Malayalam Television serials over the span of her four decades career.

The actress was a native of Kozhikode, and soon became popular as Kozhikode Sarada. She had done minor roles, often playing the role of a mother and side characters, but notable roles in numerous films. Some of her popular films include Anubandham, Anyarude Bhoomi, Ulsavapittennu, Kuttisrank and Kilichundan Mampazham.

Several famous personalities of the south including Kerala Assembly Speaker M B Rajesh, PWD Minister Mohammed Riyas, Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cheriyan, and Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran condoled her demise.
