New Delhi: Just days after comedian Munawar Faruqui announced on social media platforms that he was done with comedy after his shows were cancelled by certain regional groups, comedian Kunal Kamra too has said through a tweet that his latest gigs have been cancelled. Responding to a question on why the comedians are being “threatened” in the state, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said, “We don’t restrict anyone from expressing themselves. But, if it causes a problem for law and order situation, then we can’t allow it as a government, right?”

The minister further said he was unaware of any action being taken against Kamra’s shows. “I don’t have any idea of the second person you have mentioned about. I don’t know why his shows were cancelled,” he said.

Kunal Kamra has said at least 20 of his shows in Bengaluru were cancelled and he’s also been threatened against performing in the city.

On the question of why Kamra’s shows were stopped, the Karnataka Home Minister said, “I’ll ask our police. I don’t have any idea. I’ll get the reports from officials.”

Earlier, IndiGo, Spicejet, Go Air, Air India and Vistara announced suspensions for Kamra from flying on their airlines for six months in the aftermath of the comedian sharing a video where he is seen having a one-sided conversation with journalist Arnab Goswami on a flight.
