PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans Chief Manoj Parab was detained at Bicholim Police Station on Friday as a preventive measure as they had announced they would go to the Goa Legislative Assembly Complex requesting discussion and passage of the POGO Bill. After which, Revolutionary Goans President, Viresh Borkar and Member, Shreekrishna Parab were stopped while on the way to submit thousands of letters signed by Goans demanding Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to pass the POGO bill in the on-going assembly.

With no response from the government to their repeated earlier demands of passing the POGO bill, the aggrieved members of RG decided to personally go to the Legislative Assembly Complex, on Friday afternoon to submit the letters and memorandum. While doing so, three RG leaders were taken into custody from Bicholim and Porvorim.

“We were supposed to peacefully hand over a memorandum along with the letters at the office of the CM. Two of our leaders were taken inside at the Secretariat under full police protection after which the staff there refused to accept the memorandum along with the letters. Instead the duo was taken to the Porvorim Police station and detained.”

“After a while, the Porvorim PI went personally and inwarded the memorandum along with these letters at the office of the CM. Around 2.30 pm all three of us were released,” informed Manoj who condemned this act saying it was mere persecution of the voices of fellow Goans.

“We will fight for our rights in our own land and we will see that the POGO bill is passed in the next assembly session of 2022 under the RG government. No pressure will stop this Revolution and Goans will unite and revolt for their existence. Today all the 40 MLAs proved that they are Anti- Goans and only concerned about their migrant vote bank,” he added.
