A new plan was drafted by the authorities to reach the trapped workers by drilling down the main tunnel and using an auxiliary tunnel to bypass all the slush after which the auxiliary tunnel is connected to the main tunnel via a passageway. ITBP tweeted “The teams through boring operation will try to see whether the slush flushing tunnel below is clear of slush or otherwise to see chances of trapped persons being rescued from there.”

Authorities are working round the clock to take out slush from the tunnel as they race against time to reach the workers. Furthermore, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is also searching for missing persons along the river bed from Joshimath to Helung.
On Friday, authorities managed to establish connection with Bhangyul village after a jhoola bridge was constructed to carry rations and essential commodities.
