New Delhi: Four persons who returned from foreign tours and three of their close contacts test positive for Omicron variant in Pune, Maharashtra health official said.
This comes after a man who came from Tanzania was tested positive for Covid-19 in Dharavi, officials informed on Sunday adding that the case is suspected to be Omicron variant.
Addressing a press conference, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that his sample has been sent for genome sequencing. “On suspected patient of Omicron has been found in Dharavi.
Meanwhile, India reported its fifth Omicron positive case in Delhi today. On Saturday, a South Africa returnee tested positive for Omicron in Maharashtra’s Kalyan-Dombivli and another case was reported in Gujarat’s Jamnagar. India’s first two cases of Omicron were reported in Karnataka.
The total tally of Omicron variant cases in India rises to twelve.
