New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest on all the 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls next year on its own strength, party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said on Tuesday (August 31).
Singh, who is also AAP’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge, said the names of the candidates will be declared in the next 15 days.
As of now, the list of 120 candidates is ready, he said. Singh also said that his party will expose the “fake nationalism” of the BJP, and showcase “real nationalism” of the AAP.
The AAP leader said that his party will also take out “Tiranga Yatras” in all the 403 assembly constituencies of the state.
Meanwhile AAP which has been scouting to project a chief minister candidate in Punjab Assembly polls slated to be held next year, has started to shortlist candidates for the job.
One of the prominent faces in contention includes Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood was on Friday named as the brand ambassador for a flagship programme launched by the Delhi Government to mentor and help poor children.
Sonu Sood met with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday and discussed his journey of setting up an online job portal ‘Pravasi Rojagar’ that offers jobs to migrant labourers.
“Some children in our country come from a very poor background, who want to do a lot, but there is no one to guide them. We are making such preparations for these children, some people can be added who can guide these children. For this the country’s mentors are starting the program. For this Sonu Sood has agreed to be the brand ambassador,” Kejriwal said.
