Air Marshal V R Chaudhari To Be Next IAF Chief

Air Marshall V R Chaudhari will succeed Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria on September 30.

New Delhi: Air Marshal V R Chaudhari will take charge as the next Chief of Air Staff following the retirement of R K S Bhadauria on September 30, the Union Defence Ministry said on Tuesday evening.

Informing about the Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari’s appointment, Principal Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, A Bharat Bhushan Babu said, “Government has decided to appoint Air Marshal V R Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM presently Vice Chief of Air Staff as the next Chief of Air Staff. Current Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC retires from Service on 30th Sep 2021.”

Currently, Chaudhari is the Vice Chief of Air Staff and has been an ace MiG-29 pilot expert in major MiG-29 fighter aircraft. He was appointed the chief of the Western Air Command on August 1, 2020.

He was commissioned into Fighter Stream of the IAF on December 29, 1982, as a fighter pilot and has served nearly 39 years.

He has flown a wide variety of fighter and trainer aircraft with a flying experience of more than 3800 hours.

Outgoing Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria had assumed office on September 30, 2019 after the superannuation of Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa.
