New Delhi: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, who joined the rival camp Bharatiya Janata Party on Jan 19, reached Lucknow earlier today and sought blessings from him.

In a tweet, she wrote, “After taking membership of Bharatiya Janata Party, after reaching Lucknow, I took blessings from Father/Netaji.” The tweet hinting that all is good in the Yadav household comes after Aparna changed camps just days before the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

In another blow to the Samajwadi Party’s patriarch, former Samajwadi Party MLA Pramod Gupta, another relative of Mulayam Singh Yadav, joined the BJP in Lucknow on Thursday.

This development came a day after Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav left SP for BJP.

Gupta, who was the SP MLA from Auraiya’s Bidhuna constituency in 2012, joined the BJP at the party office. Pramod Gupta is said to be the relative of Sadhna Gupta, the second wife of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Meanwhile, Congress’ poster girl Dr Priyanka Maurya and Ayodhya’s folk singer Vandana Mishra also took membership of the BJP.

Maurya was the face of Congress ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ poster in Uttar Pradesh. Former state president, and head of the BJP joining committee Dr Laxmikant Bajpai gave party membership to all.

After a series of BJP MLAs and other ally party members, made a beeline to leave the party bastions and join SP, the ruling party inducted two family members of Mulayam Singh.

Aparna Yadav is the wife of Prateek Gupta, son of Sadhna Gupta, the second wife of Samajwadi Party’s founder and senior leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. While many family members have been active in politics, Sadhana has stayed away from the limelight.

Speaking exclusively to India Ahead, Aparna said the biggest reason for her joining the BJP is ‘nationalism’. “There is nothing beyond nationalism for me. Every Indian should think of nationalism. It is the best way to serve the people by coming to the BJP,” she said.
