Nagaon: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday reprimanded the District Magistrate of Nagaon district for halting traffic for his visit which led to a traffic jam near Gumothagaon on National Highway 37.

The Assam CM tweeted via his Twitter handle and wrote: “In our state we want to create a culture where DC,SP or any govt servant /public rep-irrespective of background, intellectual capacity or popularity will work only for the people Changing babu mindset is a tough, but we are determined to achieve our goal-Janta hi Janardhan.”

“I reprimanded officials concerned for halting traffic for me, despite clear direction not to create inconvenience for people during my visit. For over 15 minutes, NH has blocked including ambulances. This VIP culture is not acceptable in today’s Assam,” Sarma said in a video.

Further, Sarma told the bus drivers to continue the traffic movement on the road.

“Om Namah Shivay! On the auspicious first day of Magh, offered my prayers at Maha Mrityunjay Temple at Puranigudam, Nagaon and sought blessings for peace, prosperity and well-being of everyone in our state and the nation”, the chief minister tweeted.

The Assam CM also inaugurated inaugurated the Nagaon-Haibargaon bridge. “Also inaugurated the Nagaon-Haibargaon bridge near Nagaon Circuit House built under NABARD-RIDF-XXIV & ‘Mahavir Lachit Chilarai Setu Nirman Abhijan’. The 118.84-m bridge over Kolong river that cost Rs 12.35 cr will greatly enhance communication in the region”, the Chief Minister wrote via his offical Twitter handle.
