New Delhi: The newest member of the Bharatiya Janata Party Jitin Prasada expressed his appreciation for BJP and Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday, soon after joining the rival camp. He said that he took this decision after a lot of deliberation, and thanked Congress for ‘blessing’ him, and added that the ‘interest of the nation’ lies with BJP.
“I have a three-generation connection with Congress, so I took this important decision after a lot of deliberation. In the last 8-10 years I have felt that if there is one party that is truly national, it is BJP. Other parties are regional but this is a National party, “Jitin Prasada said while addressing the press here on Wednesday.
He talked about the current pandemic situation in the country and added that only the BJP and Prime Minister Modi are ‘standing for the interests of the nation today.’
“If there is any political party or a leader standing for the interests of the nation today, given the situation that our country is going through, it is BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Prasada said after joining BJP.
Taking a dig at the Congress leadership, Jitin said that during his days in Congress he felt that he could not protect the interests of people. It must be added that Jitin was also a part of ‘G23’ leaders who had written to Congress’ Chief Sonia Gandhi, requesting an overhaul of the party following the defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
“I felt that what is the relevance of staying in a party if you can’t protect interests of your people or work for them. I felt I was unable to do that at Congress. I thank people in Congress who blessed me all these years but now I’ll work as a dedicated BJP worker: Jitin Prasada
Jitin Prasada met BJP national President JP Nadda soon after joining the party. The Congress leader joined BJP on June 9 in the presence of Union Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi.
