New Delhi: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) staged a protest outside the DM’s office in Muzaffarnagar, demanding the dismissal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra in connection with the Lakhimpur violence case. The BKU workers sent a memorandum in this regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the District Magistrate.

The BKU’s demonstration came after the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) gave a call to organise nationwide protests on Tuesday to mark the completion of 11 months of farmers’ agitation against the three central agricultural laws and to press their demand for Mishra’s dismissal.

BKU media incharge told PTI, “Demonstrations would be held at administrative headquarters in every district of the country. A memorandum will be submitted to the government with a demand that the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra be removed from his post,”

“The pan-India protest will be supported by all farmer groups associated with the movement against the contentious farm laws. Through the memorandum, we will also appeal once again that these laws be rolled back,” he added.

Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra along with others have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place in Lakhimpur Kheri where a total of eight people including four farmers died. As per the allegations laid, the victims were allegedly mowed down by a vehicle that was part of the convoy of the Minister in Lakhimpur Kheri in north-central Uttar Pradesh.

However, reacting to the incident Ajay Mishra Teni had denied the allegations saying that his son was not present at the site of the incident. Later, Ashish Mishra also refuted the allegations.
