New Delhi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai informed that Karnataka Cabinet expansion will take place on Wednesday (August 4), however, all eyes are on what role BY Vijayendra gets in the reshuffled Cabinet.
BY Vijayendra, the son of former Karnataka CM B S Yediyurappa, was reported to be anointed a position in the new Cabinet.
“Regarding BY Vijayendra, the party will take a final call,” Bommai had said earlier.
While the official list will be out by 11:30 AM today from Rajbhavan, the swearing in ceremony is scheduled to take place later today as well at 2:15 PM, according to Bommai.
On Monday, Basavaraj Bommai reached Delhi to discuss Karnataka Cabinet expansion with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda.
Bommai took his oath as the 23rd chief minister of Karnataka on July 28, just two days after the resignation of BS Yediyurappa.
The newly appointed Chief Minister also announced that there is a difference of opinion among party leaders over the move of continuing Deputy Chief Ministers appointed by Yediyurappa during his tenure.
“Central BJP leadership will discuss with BS Yediyurappa on the Cabinet expansion. There is a difference of opinion on whether to continue the Deputy Chief Minister post,” he said.
Right after his meeting with JP Nadda on Monday, the Karnataka CM stated that he had a detailed discussion with the national president and also lauded him of the ground situation in the state.
This is also his second visit to Delhi. On July 30, Bommai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to the national capital. He also met several Union Ministers including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah among others.
