New Delhi: After investigating the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy who was also an uncle of Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for more than a year, the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested key accused Sunil Yadav of Pulavendula on Monday.
The CBI said that Sunil played a crucial role in the murder and made the arrest late last night, concluding its probe into the grisly murder of the former leader, who was found dead in his residence in Pulivendula.
According to sources, formalities are currently being completed and Sunil Yadav will be produced in court soon.
CBI on Tuesday confirmed that Sunil was arrested in Goa last evening. They produced the accused in the Goa local court earlier this morning. CBI has taken Sunil Yadav into custody through transit remand in Goa local court.
YS Vivekananda Reddy, the brother of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and former Minister, was murdered on March 15, 2019, in his own house at Pulivendula. The state government has formed a Special Investigation Teams for investigating the case
The state government at that time had formed a Special Investigation Teams for investigating the case. Later an inquiry began with narco tests of the three suspects.
Three persons were arrested in July 2019, on the allegation of tampering the evidence.
Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunita has approached Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking CBI investigation into the case. The High Court gave a verdict on March 11, 2020 handing over the case to CBI.
