NEW DELHI:  Northern Railways on Tuesday (May 25, 2021) suspended Wrestler Sushil Kumar after he was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Chhatrasal stadium murder case. As per an official statement by Northern Railways PRO, Deepak Kumar, “Sushil Kumar suspended from his job at Northern Railways, as criminal offence investigation against him is underway.”

A case against Sushil Kumar, (Adhoc) Junior Administrative Grade (JAG)/ Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), on premature repatriation to Northern Railway from NDMC, in respect of a criminal offence is under investigation. He was detained in police custody on May 23, 2021, for a period exceeding 48 hours.

Now, therefore Sushil Kumar (Adhoc) JAG/ IRTS is deemed to have been suspended with effect from the date of detention i.e. May 23, 2021, in terms of Rule 5 (2) of (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1968 and shall remain under suspension until further orders, the Railways said.

Earlier, Delhi Police took Kumar to three locations in Delhi. He seemed nervous and was changing his statements during the interrogation, said the Delhi Police sources. He is the prime accused in the alleged murder case of wrestler Sagar Dhankar. He and his associate Ajay Bakkarwala were being taken to three locations in Delhi–Model Town, Shalimar Bagh, and Chhatrasal Stadium– connected with the incident.

As per Delhi Police sources, when the police were questioning the wrestler at the said places, Kumar was seemingly nervous and was changing his statement repeatedly. The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Sunday arrested Sushil Kumar, who was absconding accused in the murder case of wrestler Sagar Dhankar, along with his associate Ajay, who was allegedly helping the wrestler while on the run.

A Delhi court has granted six days of police custody of Sushil Kumar. A non-bailable warrant was issued against 38-year-old Sushil and others in the case relating to the alleged killing of the 23-year-old wrestler. According to the police, Sushil while absconding crossed the borders of as many as seven states and union territories during the last 18 days.
