RAIPUR, Chattisgarh: The Chattisgarh Government on Friday(May 14, 2021) announced that it will fund the education of children who lost their parents to COVID-19.  The Government will also take care of those children in families whose earning member has died of COVID-19.

“‘Chhattisgarh Mehtari Dular Yojana’ will be started to improve the future of children who lost their loved ones in the corona epidemic. — Under this, the Government of Chhattisgarh will arrange for the education and scholarship of needy children,” tweeted Chattisgarh CMO.

As per the CMO, such children will be given preference for admission in Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools. No fee will be charged.

Chattisgarh recorded 9,121 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Friday out of 67,738 tests conducted. 195 people died in the state on Friday, out of which 92 died from COVID-19 while 103 patients also had co-morbidities.

India on Friday reported 3,43,144 new COVID-19 cases as the nation witnessed dropped cases for the second straight day. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare 4,000 deash were reported in the last 24 hours. The daily case count has seen a decline of 19,000 as compared to Thursday.

Furthermore, 3,44,776 people were discharged in the last 24 hours which reduced the active COVID-19 cases tally in the country to 37,04,893. The total discharges now stand at 2,00,79,599. The death toll has meanwhile climbed up to 2,62,317.

The spurt in new cases crossed the 4-lakh mark in the country on April 30. The cases have been rising since mid-April and had crossed the 3 Lakh mark within a week. The new infections have been staying above 200,000-mark since April 15.
