Comedian Raju Srivastava Suffers Heart Attack, Admitted To AIIMS Delhi

The popular stand up comedian collapsed while working out in a gym.

New Delhi: Well-known comedian Raju Srivastava was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Wednesday after he reportedly suffered a heart attack. The popular stand up comedian collapsed while working out in a gym and was immediately taken to the hospital, reports said.

A team of doctors from Cardiology Department and Emergency are attending to him and his condition is stable. The comedian has been placed under observation and more details on his health are awaited.

Earlier in the day, Srivastava’s colleague Sunil Pal said the comedian was doing much better.

58-year-old Raju Srivastava is a popular household name recognised as one of first stand up comedians to gain popularity through television shows. Also, one of the most successful comedians, Raju tickled the funny bones of viewers across country by imitating politicians on screen.

Srivastava has been active in the entertainment industry since late 1980s even though he first received recognition after participating in the first season of stand-up comedy show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge”.

He has appeared in Hindi films like “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Baazigar”, “Bombay to Goa” and “Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya”. He was one of the contestants on “Bigg Boss” season three. Srivastava is the current chairman of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.
