New Delhi: Congress party has revamped its Uttarakhand unit ahead of polls which are slated to be held next year. As per the party’s notification, Ganesh Godiyal has now been appointed as president of the Pradesh Congress Committee in Uttarakhand. He will be replacing Pritam Singh, who is now made the new CLP leader.
Former chief minister Harish Rawat, returning to politics, was appointed as the Campaign Committee chief for Uttarakhand, where assembly elections will be held early next year, a party statement said.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also appointed four working presidents for the Uttarakhand party unit–Jeet Ram, Bhuwan Kapri, Tilak Raj Behar and Ranjit Rawat. They will work under Godiyal.
Another leader, Aryendra Sharma has been made the new treasurer of the Uttarakhand unit of the party.
The party statement noted, Uttarakhand Congress Core Committee will be chaired by AICC in-charge Devendra Yadav, and will have 16 members.
However, Former Uttarakhand Minister Navprabhat, who has been made the chairman of the manifesto committee and also a member of the core committee and the coordination committee of State Congress, has refused to take the post announced by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
Speaking to ANI, Navprabhat said that he has informed Congress state in-charge, Devendra Yadav, about his decision. “I told the state in-charge that I had been President of this committee 3 times, this time this honour is too much. I urged him to reverse this order at his end. I will never compromise my dignity,” he said.
