Chandigarh: As the entire Congress leadership is attending the party’s ‘Chintan Shivir‘ in Udaipur, former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar went live on Facebook and spoke as if his announcement of resignation from the Congress party wasn’t much of a news to mull over. In his ‘dil ki baat‘ Facebook live, Jakhar said the party needs to be looking inward before it can draw up strategies and policies on other matters of national concern.

“My parting gift or return gift to the Congress is that it needs to worry more than introspect, chinta and not chintan is what Congress requires. Otherwise, it will soon become from one Congress party to 60 Congress parties,” he said.

Congress is making committees on foreign policy, agriculture, etc as if everything else is okay in the party. “First set your house in order and then talk about foreign policy,” Jakhar said.

Congress’ Recent State Poll Debacles

In what could be perceived as an indirect take on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, he said, “In UP, we lost the security deposit in 390 out of 412 seats, and no one is talking about it? Hundreds of candidates got just 2,000 votes. Even in panchayat elections, you get more votes than what Congress candidates got in UP.” Notably, Priyanka Gandhi was personally supervising UP Congress’ affairs in the run-up to the Assembly polls.

Jakhar next said that the performance of Congress in two states – Uttarakhand and Punjab – deserved a mention. He began with Uttarakhand, saying, “Harish Rawat had one foot in Punjab and the other in Dehradun. He lost because he deserved it. And Congress lost because he had a major role to play in it.”

Why Vote For ‘Nakli BSP & Nakli BJP’

About Punjab, he said that Congress should learn from how the voters voted in these elections. And it proves that Punjabis are secular. The panthic didn’t vote for Akalis, the Hindus didn’t vote for the BJP, the Dalits didn’t vote for Congress. Yet, a small leader who has been bestowed big positions said, “Agar Hindu ko Punjab kaa CM banaya to aag lag jayegi (If a Hindu is made CM, it will result in violence).” He was referring to Ambika Soni.

“If one has to vote on the basis of caste, and if Congress felt that Dalits would have voted for them due to Charanjit Singh Channi factor, then the question arises and people ask this question often “Why should we vote for nakli BSP in Punjab or nakli BJP (where Congress tried to emulate BJP)?'” he asked

“Tariq Anwar Who Called Sonia Videshi Mahila Serving Me Notice”

Tariq Anwar, AICC incharge for Kerala and Lakshadweep, once left the party saying that he cannot be part of the disposition which has a foreign national as its head. “Today he is serving me the show cause notice. What is his locus standi?” Jakhar tore into Tariq Anwar and then he again directed his ire at Ambika Soni.

Jakhar said, “Soniaji, you may not know, but people like Ambika Soni are fair-weather friends. She was close to Sanjay Gandhi and that is why Indira Gandhi liked her. But she was the first one to jump the ship after the emergency. And ask Mohsina Kidwai, the kind of bad words she used for Indira Gandhi.”

He added, “Janardhan Dwivedi, Gulchain Singh Charak, Asha Kumari, Harish Rawat, or Harish Chaudhary they all touch one aunty’s feet at Delhi. And that is Ambika Soni,” said Jakhar.

He added, “Without you, Soniaji and Rahulji, Congress cannot function. One Congress of today will become 60 in your absence, but please get rid of these sycophants.”

Jakhar’s Exit Congress’ Loss, Say Punjab Leaders

Immediately after he resigned, Punjab Congress leaders said that the party shouldn’t have served him a notice. Former Gill MLA Kuldeep Vaid said, “It is unfortunate that someone like Jakhar has left the party.”

Barinder Dhillon from Roopnagar too expressed sadness and said that Jakhar was a true Congressman and shouldn’t have resigned. Jakhar’s nephew Sandeep Jakhar who is an MLA from Abohar said, “I will talk to him and decide about the future course of action.”

Navjot Singh Sidhu too said that Congress should not lose Jakhar. It is Congress’ loss, not his.
