New Delhi: India reported less than 1 lakh daily new cases of the novel coronavirus cases after 63 days. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,86,498 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 66 days.
As per the Ministry, 1,82,282 discharges, and 2123 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The total caseload stands at 2,89,96,473, while active caseload declines by 97,907, currently at 13,03,702.
On the recovery front, there were a total of 2,73,41,462 discharges. The death toll is at 3,51,309. On the vaccination front, 23,61,98,726 doses were administered till now.
A total of 36,82,07,596 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the country, up to June 7 including 18,73,485 samples tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research.
The new infections have been staying above 200,000-mark since April 15.
The new cases have been increasing at an alarming pace since the country broke the one lakh case barrier on April 4 when it reported 1,03,558 new COVID-19 cases.
Within a fortnight, the numbers have doubled, sounding alarm bells throughout the country as medical infrastructure, doctors and patients grapple with resource crunch.
