New Delhi: India reported 60,471 new cases of the novel coronavirus (lowest after 75 days), as per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday (June 15).
1,17,525 discharges & 2726 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry. The total caseload stands at 2,95,70,881 while the active cases are 9,13,378.
On the recovery front, there were 2,82,80,472 total discharges. The death toll stands at 3,77,031.
Recovery Rate increased to 95.64%, Weekly Positivity Rate dropped to less than 5%, currently at 4.39%. Daily positivity rate is at 3.45%, less than 5% for 8 consecutive days.
On the vaccination front, a total of 25,90,44,072 doses have been administered till now.
38,13,75,984 samples were tested for COVID-19, up to June 14. Of these, 17,51,358 samples were tested yesterday as per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
The new infections had stayed above 200,000-mark since April 15. The new cases have been increasing at an alarming pace since the country broke the one lakh case barrier on April 4 when it reported 1,03,558 new COVID-19 cases.
Within a fortnight, the numbers doubled, which sounding alarm bells throughout the country as medical infrastructure, doctors and patients grapple with resource crunch. India had crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4.
