New Delhi: India reported 1,94,720 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which was 15 per cent higher than yesterday when 1,68,063 cases were reported. The death toll has moved up as compared to previous day, and stands at 442, as per by the Union Health Ministry data released on Tuesday at 8 am.
As many as 60,405 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, meanwhile, the tally of active cases stands at 9,55,319 infections. The active cases increase was the highest in 211 days, the data updated at 8 am stated.
Of the total 4,868 cases of Omicron variant, 1,805 have have recovered or migrated so far. Maharashtra recorded the maximum number of 1,281 cases followed by Rajasthan at 645,Delhi 546, Karnataka 479 and Kerala 350. The active cases comprise 2.65 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate decreased to 96.01 per cent, the ministry said.
India’s vaccination drive has been at a good pace since it started on January 16, 2021, as the ground level health care workers, ASHA workers, doctors, medical staff have made it possible to administer 1,53,80,08,200 doses till January 12. India on Monday (January 10) began administering 3rd Covid-19 precautionary doses to frontline workers, healthcare workers and senior citizens of 60+ age, and over 9 lakh doses were given on the first day of the vaccination drive. As per the data, 9,84,676 precaution doses were administered.
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya informed that reminder SMS have been sent to more than 1 crore health and frontline workers and 60+ citizens for their precaution dose.
