New Delhi: Recording another jump of over 4000 cases, India on Thursday reported a spike in new infections with 43,263 new cases in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, the numbers had jumped by more than 7000 and 37,875 people had tested positive for Covid-19.
The data shows that the country saw 5,388 more cases in the last 24 hours.
The new additions took the country’s total tally to 3,31,39,981 cases as the data showed on Thursday at 8 am. The number of people who have succumbed to Covid-19 now stands at 4,41,749.
The statistics for the active cases recorded a jump after a dip on Wednesday. The cases showed a minor dip yesterday after registering a rise for five consecutive days the previous week, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The Active cases stood at 3,93,614 infections on Thursday, meanwhile, the death toll climbed to 4,41,749 with 338 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.
Of 43,263 new Covid-19 cases and 338 deaths reported in the last 24 hours in India, Kerala recorded 30,196 cases and 181 deaths yesterday.
The total recoveries in the country now stand at 3,23,04,618 patients discharged while 40,567 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, a dip from the previous day.
The total number of vaccinations crossed the 71 crore mark since January 16, stood at 71,65,97,428 doses administered. Out of these 86,51,701 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 18,17,639 samples were tested yesterday.
