New Delhi: India on Thursday reported a spike in case as the number of infections rose above the 22K-mark after reporting cases below 20,000 mark for two days straight.
As many as 22,431 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as the country woke up to celebrate the 9-day Navratri festival, highlighting the need to avoid crowded places as people are likely to come out and visit pooja pandals in various parts of the country.
The active cases rose to 2,44,198 infections, which was lower than the previous day, meanwhile, 318 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The number of recoveries stood at 24,602 outpatients, taking the total number of recoveries 3,32,00,258 in the country till date.
The total mortalities in the country rose to 4,49,856 deaths, whereas the total case tally reached 3,38,94,312 infections.
The active case rate lowered to 0.72 per cent, while the discharge rate improved to 97.95 percent, showing a small spike from the previous day of 97.94 per cent.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, over 57 crore tests have been done so far. As per the data, 57,86,57,484 tests have been done so far, out of which 14,31,819 tests were done in the last 24 hours.
More than 92 crore vaccines have been administered so far in the country. The data says that 92,63,68,608 doses have been administered since Jan 16, 2021, out of which 43,09,525 doses were given in the last 24 hours.
