New Delhi: India reported 30,256 fresh cases of Covid-19 infections on Monday, while the numbers were similar the previous day with 30,773 Covid-19 cases.
The country also reported a dip in fatalities as the number dipped to 295, down from previous day’s 309 tally.
Of 30,256 new Covid-19 cases and 295 deaths in the last 24 hours in India, Kerala recorded 19,653 infections and 152 deaths.
The Kerala government on Sunday said that special intensified, stringent lockdown restrictions will be enforced in areas of the state, where the spread of Covid-19 is at critical levels.
The stringent lockdown restrictions would be in force in areas where the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR) is above 10 and the affected places would be notified by the district disaster management authority (DDMA) on a weekly basis, said an order from Chief Secretary V P Joy.
The order said the affected areas would be publicised through websites and other media. The District Collectors shall further notify micro-containment zones as per guidelines and enforce the lockdown restrictions therein, the order read. It said contact tracing and quarantine shall also be monitored and strengthened in all districts.
Overall, the country saw 43,938 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
These numbers took the total case tally to 33,478,419, while the total number of Active cases rose to 3,18,181.
The total number of recoveries too grew to 3,27,15,105 patients discharged, however the total Death toll was recorded at 4,45,133 deaths so far.
on the brighter side, the total number of vaccination crossed 80 crore mark with 80,85,68,144 doses administered since January 16, when the national vaccination drive began.Out of thee 37,78,296 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
