Covid-19 India Update: New Infections Rise Above 30K-Mark, Active Cases Lowest In 187 Days

The active cases comprise 0.90 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020.

New Delhi: The new infection tally on Thursday rose past 30K-mark after staying below for two consecutive days. India on Thursday added 31,923 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,35,63,421, while the active cases declined to 3,01,640, the lowest in 187 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The death toll climbed to 4,46,050 with 282 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The active cases comprise 0.90 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.77 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

Out of the 31,923 new Covid cases & 282 deaths reported in the country, Kerala reported 19,675 new infections & 142 deaths yesterday.

The data shows that the number of recoveries slowed down from 34,000 daily recoveries. The latest numbers put 31,990 outpatients across the country, in the last 24 hours.

This pushed the total number of recoveries to 3,28,15,731 outpatients, while the total number of vaccines rose above 83 crores, as of Sept 22, 2021.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data says, 83,39,90,049 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since Jan 16, 2021. Out of these, 71,38,205 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
