COVID-19: India’s active cases dip to 1,68,235 on Monday

New Delhi: India continued its downward slope for active COVID-19 cases as the country reported 1,68,235 active cases against 1,68,784 cases reported on Sunday (Jan 31).

The country recorded 11,427 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, more than two thousand cases lower than the statistics reported yesterday. On Sunday 13,052 new daily cases have been recorded continuing the slide since last 25 days. The data also indicate that the daily recoveries have consistently exceeded daily new cases.

However, on Feb 1, the discharges stood at 11,858 discharges, slightly lower than 13,965 patients who recovered and were discharged on Sunday (Jan 31).

If we look at the mortalities, India reported 118 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to reach 1,54,392 as on Monday, as per the Health Ministry data.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 19,70,92,635 samples were tested up to January 31, 2021 while in a single day as many as 5,04,263 samples tested on January 31, 2021 (Sunday).
