New Delhi: The former director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Ranjit Sinha has passed away in Delhi on Friday morning at the age of 68.
Sinha, a 1974-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, had headed Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force, the Railway Protection Force and served at senior positions in the Central Bureau of Investigation in Patna and Delhi before his appointment as CBI chief in 2012. He died at 4:30 am on Friday, according to news agency ANI.
He was admitted after he exhibited Covid-19-related complications earlier. It is understood that he was confirmed positive for coronavirus on Thursday night, as per PTI.The PTI report stated that Ranjit Sinha contracted the COVID-19 on Thursday following which his health deteriorated and led to his death.
