Covid Cases In Delhi To Fall By 4,000 On Sat: Satyendar Jain

India reports 2,68,833 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours. As many as 4,631 more coronavirus cases reported, so far India has 94.83 per cent discharge rate and recovery toll stands at 1,22,684 on Saturday as per the Union Health Ministry records.

New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday said that COVID-19 cases are expected to fall by 4,000 on Saturday while the positivity rate will remain around 30 per cent.

“Today, Delhi COVID cases are expected to be reduced by 4,000-positivity rate will be around 30 per cent; hospital admission rate hasn’t risen in past 5-6 days. This indicates that cases are going to be fewer in the coming days. 85 per cent of hospital beds are vacant,” said Jain during a press conference in New Delhi.

On being asked when will the peak of the fifth wave in Delhi arrive, he said, “Cases peak has arrived, let’s see when the decline begins…seems like cases have begun to slow down”.

Delhi on Thursday reported 28,867 new COVID-19 cases, 31 fatalities, and 2,424 hospitals were occupied. Satyendar Jain informed on Friday that over 13,000 beds were vacant. Just over 15 per cent of beds in the hospitals were occupied.

Country recorded 402 Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours making the total death toll to 4,85,752. Active cases in the nation stands at 14,17,820 whereas, daily positivity rate remains at 16.66 per cent.

According to Union Health Ministry more than 1,56,02,51,117 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered starting from the January 16, 2021. India’s vaccine drive is at pace and vaccination drive is doing much better than any other western nations, India administered 58,02,976 doses of Covid-19 vaccines in last 24 hours.

India records 288 more confirmed cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 in last 24 hours. Total tally of Omicron cases reaches to 6,041 increased from 5,753 cases as recorded last on Friday.
