Cremation Of CDS General Bipin Rawat, His Wife To Be Done On Friday In Delhi

Their bodies are expected to arrive in the national capital in a military plane by tomorrow evening.

New Delhi: CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other Defence officials were killed after the IAF helicopter carrying them crashed near Coonoor in Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. As per the reports, the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife will be cremated on Friday in Delhi Cantonment.

Their bodies are expected to arrive in the national capital in a military plane by tomorrow evening.

The bodies would be brought to his house in Delhi on Friday and people would be allowed to pay last respect from 11 am to 2 pm, followed by a funeral procession which will start from Kamraj Marg to Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment.

A total of 14 people were on board the Mi-17V-5 helicopter of the Air Force at the time of the accident. These include CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, Lt Col Harjinder Singh, NK Gursewak Singh, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, NK Jitendra Kumar, JWO Pradeep A, JWO Das, Squadron Leader K Singh, L/Nayak Vivek Kumar, L/Nayak B Sai Teja, Group Captain Varun Singh and Havildar Satpal. Only Group Captain Varun Singh survived the accident. He is being treated.
