Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Who Tested Positive For Covid Recovering Well, Says Govt Official

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who tested positive for COVID-19, is recovering well, a government spokesperson said on Tuesday. A Bharat Bhushan Babu, the principal spokesperson of the Defence Ministry, said a team of doctors from the Army’s Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital examined Singh.

“A team of doctors from Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt examined Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh who had tested COVID positive, yesterday. He is recovering well,” Babu tweeted.

Singh on Monday said on Twitter that he tested positive for COVID-19 and was under home quarantine. “I have tested positive for Corona today with mild symptoms. I am under home quarantine. I request everyone who have recently come in my contact to isolate themselves and get tested,” he said. Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt also said that he tested positive for COVID-19.

On Tuesday last week, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on said that he has tested positive for the deadly Covid-19 infection. In an early morning tweet, the 53-year-old had said, that he has “mild symptoms”, adding that he has isolated himself at his home.

India reported 1,68,063 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which was 6.4 per cent lower than yesterday when 1,79,723 cases were reported. The death toll has moved up as compared to previous day, and stands at 277, as per by the Union Health Ministry data released on Tuesday at 8 am. As many as 69,959 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, meanwhile, the tally of active cases stands at 8,21,446 infections.

India’s vaccination drive has been at a good pace since it started on January 16, 2021, as the ground level health care workers, ASHA workers, doctors, medical staff have made it possible to administer 1,52,89,70,294 doses till January 11. In the last 24 hours, 92,07,700 doses were administered.
