New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Friday (February 19, 2021) said that the petitioner’s (Disha Ravi) right to privacy, freedom of speech need to be protected and balanced. The court was hearing the petition filed by Disha Ravi on Thursday (February 18, 2021) seeking direction to the Delhi Police not to leak any investigation material in relation to the FIR filed against her to any third party including the media.

As per ANI, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju appearing for Delhi Police denied the allegations of leakage of information and submitted an affidavit stating that the allegation made by the petitioner is false. Police have not leaked and shared any input or data with the media. The court ordered the Delhi Police to strictly abide by the affidavit filed on February 19, 2021.

Ravi is a climate activist from Bengaluru who was allegedly involved in distributing the “toolkit” on social media. She is on a five days custody, following her arrest in connection with the alleged role in spreading the “toolkit” tweeted by activist Greta Thunberg to support farmers’ protest.

The Police has registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with the “toolkit.” The toolkit came to light after Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted the kit with her tweet supporting the farmers’ protest. She had later deleted the “toolkit.”
