Dilip Kumar Laid To Rest: Tributes Pour In For Bollywood Legend

India woke up to the sad news of Legend Dilip Kumar’s Demise today. The 98-year old actor is remembered for films like Mughal-e-Azam, Karma, Devdas, Naya Daur, Ganga Jamuna, Saudagar and many more.

From his realistic portrayal of dark characters that earned him the title ‘Tragedy King’, to his noteworthy performances in comic & romantic roles that made him a heartthrob, Dilip Kumar leaves behind a legacy that will keep him alive in the hearts of his countless fans.

The world, today, is collectively mourning the loss of the actor who ruled millions of hearts for decades.

From actors, to sportsperson to political leaders, many took to Twitter and Instagram to pay their respects to the actor.

PM Modi termed his death as a loss to the cultural world. He said that Dilip Kumar was blessed with unparalleled brilliance and will be remembered as a cinematic legend.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan also took to Twitter to express his sorrow and said that “whenever the history of Indian Cinema will be written, it shall always be ‘before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar.”

Madhuri Dixit shared a throwback picture with the actor and said that Dilip Kumar was a legend who wrote history.

Sanjay Dutt too shared a picture with Dilip Kumar as a fond memory and called the actor a father figure.

Dilip Kumar had fans cutting across regions, ages and countries.

While Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu called him a ‘timeless legend’, veteran actor from Malayalam cinema Mammootty too bid the actor an emotional farewell.

The actor, who was born in Peshawar, was loved across the border too. The tributes from Pakistan are a testimony to that love.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan remembered Dilip Kumar for raising funds for Khan’s trust and went on to call him the ‘greatest’ actor of his generation.

Cricketer Shahid Afridi called Dilip Kumar’s death a huge loss for fans across globe.

Actor Kubra Khan too paid her respects and said that “there will be one more star in the sky tonight”.

Dilip Kumar’s unmatched stature in Indian cinema will continue to inspire generations. Through his unforgettable characters, he will continue to live on forever.
