New Delhi: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday morning.

Security forces instantly launched a cordon and search operation in the Nagberan-Tarsar forest area in south Kashmir today, after inputs about the presence of militants there, a police official said.

He further added that the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fired at a search party of the forces, who retaliated.

The exchange of firing is going on and further details are awaited, the official stated.

Taking to Twitter, the Kashmir Zone Police officially confirmed about the above-mentioned developments in Pulwama.

“#Encounter has started at Nagberan-Tarsar forest area of #Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

In another post, they added: “#EncounterUpdate: Exact location of #encounter is between Namibian & Marsar, general area #Dachigam forest. 02 unidentified #terrorists killed. Army and Police on job. Search is still going on. @JmuKmrPolice”.
