On May 6, three terrorists were killed, while one surrendered before security forces, during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The armed forces had launched a cordon and search operation in South Kashmir district’s Kanigam region during the night after receiving information about the presence of militants there, a police official confirmed.
He had also confirmed that four newly recruited local militants of Al-Badr outfit got neutralised and that the security forces exercised maximum restraint and tried to persuade them to give themselves up.
However, the militants turned down their offer to surrender and started to open fire and lobbed a grenade at the security forces.
The unit of the security forces retaliated, ensuing an encounter, the official said. During the nasty encounter, one of the militants decided to surrender before the security forces while three others got killed.
According to the official, the surrendered militant was identified as Tausif Ahmad.
